Koru Shield

How Koru Shield works

A simple layer of DNS protection that checks a domain before your device connects. Setup takes a few minutes, then filtering runs quietly in the background.

1

Choose a device

Open your Koru Shield dashboard and add a device to get its personal DoH setup details.

2

Connect securely

Use an encrypted DNS profile or a compatible DoH setting. Koru Shield refuses plain DNS on port 53.

3

Browse normally

DNS requests are checked against filtering rules before the connection is made.

What happens when a domain is blocked?

When a domain matches a block category, the resolver returns a non-routable response instead of the site's address. The page or app may show a blocked notice, a connection error, or simply fail to load. The exact message depends on the device and app.

A short setup, with a clear test

Most supported devices take a couple of minutes to configure. After setup, use the protection check from the home page and confirm your personal endpoint appears in the dashboard.

Encrypted DNS only. Koru Shield uses DNS-over-HTTPS. Plain DNS on port 53 is refused. No public DNS-over-TLS or DNS-over-QUIC setup is offered.
